Fuel & Flow: Women in Sport Wellness Series

Covering key topics like injury prevention, nutrition, mental well-being, and peak performance, this series brings together experts, athletes, and coaches to share insights and strategies for success. Whether you're an aspiring young athlete, a seasoned competitor, or someone passionate about health and fitness, Fuel & Flow provides the knowledge and tools to help you thrive—on and off the water. Join us to connect, learn, and take your rowing to the next level!

Aimed at female athletes of all ages, as well as parents/guardians and coaches, there will be something for everyone. Each event will be subsidised for attendees, bringing the cost to $10 a ticket.

Inspire Health Services 16th April Evening Coaches / Parents

1. Coaches & Parents – This session provides foundational knowledge on how to best support young and developing athletes. Topics include:
o Understanding Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) and its impact on performance and health.
o Fuelling for school and training—ensuring young athletes meet their energy needs.
o The importance of balanced nutrition for growth, recovery, and injury prevention.
o How to identify early signs of under-fuelling and nutrient deficiencies.

 

Inspire Health Services 30th April Evening Junior  / Open Athletes

2. Juniors & Opens Athletes – A practical session designed for developing athletes focusing on:
o Fuelling for performance – pre-, during, and post-training nutrition.
o Fuelling for health – ensuring adequate intake for optimal energy levels, recovery, and injury prevention.
o The role of bone density in long-term performance and injury risk.
o Practical meal and snack ideas to meet the demands of training, competition, and daily life.

 

Inspire Health Services 14th May Evening Masters

3. Masters Athletes – A tailored session for older athletes, covering:
o Bone health and density – strategies to maintain strength and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
o Perimenopause & menopause – how hormonal changes affect energy, recovery, and body composition.
o Fuelling for longevity and performance – maintaining muscle mass, joint health, and sustained energy levels.
o Injury prevention and recovery nutrition – key nutrients and strategies to support tissue repair and overall health.

 

Elite Health & Performance 20th May Evening Athletes / Coaches

Inevitably in sport injuries happen but luckily, we have Jake from Elite Health and Performance speaking on all thing’s injury and prevention for rowers and females. You’ll walk away from this session with a vast understanding of:
-       Common injuries in rowing/females
-       Best practice of what do with acute injuries
-       When/how to recognise if an overuse injury is occurring
-       When to be concerned and seek advice on an injury (when to ‘tough it out’ vs not)
-       Take home strategies for maintaining injury prevention
