Rowing Queensland Announces New CEO Appointment

Rowing Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthea O'Loughlin as its new Chief Executive Officer. A highly respected leader in talent acquisition, people operations, and strategic development, Anthea brings a wealth of experience from high-profile organisations, including the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, the Department of Education Queensland, and The Star Entertainment Group.

With a distinguished career spanning major sporting events, government, and hospitality, Anthea has a proven track record of driving organisational growth, fostering inclusive cultures, and championing leadership excellence. Her role at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games saw her play a pivotal role in talent acquisition and workforce planning, ensuring the successful delivery of one of Australia’s most significant sporting events. At the Department of Education Queensland, she contributed to developing strong workforce strategies to support students, educators, and communities across the state. Most recently, her tenure at The Star Entertainment Group reinforced her expertise in large-scale recruitment, people strategy, and operational leadership in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.

With Queensland building towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Anthea is dedicated to developing the infrastructure and resources required to support the sport’s long-term growth. She will also champion strong governance practices, ensuring transparency and resilience in the organisation’s strategic direction. Additionally, she will lead efforts to drive commercial sustainability, securing diverse revenue streams to strengthen Rowing Queensland’s future.
