Rowing Queensland Farewell CEO
Published Tue 18 Feb 2025
It is with mixed emotions that the Rowing Queensland Board announce the resignation of our Chief Executive Officer, Matt Bialkowski.
Matt has been recruited by an organization outside the sports industry and has made the difficult decision to embark on a new professional challenge.
Since joining Rowing Queensland, Matt has been incredibly hard working, both out at events and behind the desk. He hit the ground running with his first few days as CEO undertaking one of the largest events on the calendar at the Schools’ Champs Regatta in Bundaberg and has not stopped since.
Under his leadership, we have seen significant progress in our community engagement, governance capabilities, business processes and the creation of a new strategic plan.
Matt has been a dedicated leader and advocate for the sport and his collaborative and educational approach has empowered staff, helping to foster a positive and supportive working environment that has contributed to the organisation’s continued success.
His leadership has encouraged innovation, professional development, and a shared commitment to enhancing rowing in Queensland at all levels.
Matt’s passion for the sport has been evident in his dedication to building and strengthening relationships across the state. He has worked closely with rowers, clubs, schools, government, key stakeholders, other rowing state associations and Rowing Australia to build great relationships and communication pathways, ensuring the sport continues to thrive.
It is no surprise these sorts of skills have been recognised by others and given him the new opportunity he has accepted.
While we are saddened to see him leave, we sincerely thank Matt for his service and contributions to Rowing Queensland. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Matt’s last day with Rowing Queensland will be early April and the Board will shortly commence the process of identifying a new CEO to lead Rowing Queensland into its next chapter.
Please join us in thanking Matt for his outstanding service and wishing him all the best in his next role.
