The Green and Gold decade has well and truly begun

In a joint statement today: Representatives of World Rowing, Rowing Australia, and Rowing Queensland are working closely on planning for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Green and Gold decade has well and truly begun, with the planning for venues, including the proposed Flatwater Rowing venue, in full swing.

As part of the selection process for the Flatwater Rowing venue, several locations across South-east Queensland were considered by external expert consultants engaged as part of the 2032 Games planning.

The resulting feasibility assessments, combined with the input of World Rowing experts, determined that the rowing course located at the Queensland State Rowing Centre (QSRC) at Wyaralong Dam within the Scenic Rim region of South East Queensland is a suitable and fit-for-purpose venue for Flatwater Rowing.

Critically, this venue currently holds about 60 local and state-based rowing events, including 35 regattas each year. This demonstrates its ability to address important impact and legacy infrastructure outcomes for the 2032 Games.

Collectively World Rowing, Rowing Australia, and Rowing Queensland will look to continue to build on this collaborative and positive engagement to leverage the opportunities the 2032 Games will provide Australia and the region for the sport of rowing.

Beyond 2032, this venue will serve as an important location for local, state, national, and potentially international regattas and we look forward to the opportunity of having another international standard Flatwater Rowing regatta venue in Australia.
